This 1-day course is designed to provide project managers and team members with information about conflict that may occur on a project between individuals or groups.  We will learn that not all conflict is bad and how it may be used to benefit the project. 

Students will walk-through a five-step conflict management process, which includes an assessment of the appropriate conflict handling mode for different situations.  A hands-on assessment will be taken by each student to identify the mode(s) that they would most likely use in a conflict situation.  The class will explore multiple sources of conflict and strategies for managing them.  We will also consider the group dynamics of a project and the conflict that may arise within and among teams.  Signs and effects of “groupthink” will be explored.  The class will conclude with exercises to help build and manage better teams.
