Today’s projects have tighter deadlines, must yield to tougher economic constraints and are often required to stretch limited project resources to the breaking point. By using a structured approach to manage project risk, Project Managers can effectively deal with resulting project uncertainties by making informed decisions that minimize threats and maximize opportunities.
This course has been developed as an extension to the fundamentals of Project Risk Management presented in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Third Edition (PMBOK®) and can benefit Project Managers and candidates of the PMI’s Risk Management Professional (PMI –RMP SM) certification alike.
During the three-day interactive workshop sessions, the project risk management framework presented in the PMBOK® Guide will be applied to real-world scenarios in an environment that will allow participants to exchange valuable lessons learned with other Project Management practitioners and mature their own practices and skills in regards to:
- Risk Communication including:
- Gathering, documenting and reporting on risk information
- Interpersonal skills for dealing with the sensitive nature of risk
- Risk Analysis including:
- Risk identification and risk metrics
- Qualifying, quantifying and analyzing risk
- Risk Response Planning including:
- Risk response techniques and strategies
- Reserve management practices
- Risk Governance including:
- Improving risk management effectiveness
- Monitoring and controlling risky projects
It is recommended that students bring their copy of PMI’s Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) 3rd Edition to class with them.
